{ world directory }
This page covers more in-depth information about the various areas, towns, special locations, and other environments in Songerein. The world is always developing, and changes and new discoveries are made almost monthly. We ask player submissions to add to the growing list so that others can utilize these locations for their own purposes. Included in each section is general information, maps where available (reference only, not to scale), and list of notable and player submitted locations. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of places. We only include what information we have, and players are still free to create and use places for their own purposes at any time. Player submissions for locations can be made here.
The game setting itself is a series of concentric circles with the town, Reverein, at the center and the Wastelands encompassing a significant portion of the world. However, whether that's truly all that's out there is still unknown. As far as the game is concerned, the main population resides in the center with the Wildlands encompassing the forests, swamps, mountains, etc.
For practical purposes, the only "big" areas players should be familiar with would be the town, Reverein and the various areas there, as that is where characters are most likely going to spend most of their time. After that, the Wildlands would be a good pick to look over for those who are more adventurous.
We have a separate bestiary to cover what's been discovered and submitted, however, there's way too much for us to possibly list so players are free to make up whatever they need so long as it's a reasonable fit. For example, anything fairy tale themed, fae, demon, or classic RPG related will surely be found, but dinosaurs, robots, and aliens would not
The same is true for the NPCs. Most of these will be canon NPC cameos as described in the Worldbuilding section of the Game Info page. For these we would prefer a more accurate list describing the categories, and players can submit their canon NPCs in here.

Thanks to Futaba and her group of explorers, electricity is now available, if in limited amounts. It's enough to provide some lighting, heating, and air conditioning, but it's suggested to supplement it with dreamotion especially for anything that requires more power. Appliances exist, but they are still not all fully operational. Gas stoves instead of electric, coffee makers needing certain dreamotion powered crystals, any washers are dryers built would need to be powered by dreamotion or do it by hand and hang dry, etc. Traditional refrigerators are still not around, but ice boxes and being able to use dreamotion to keep things cooled are common use. As electricity is further developed, however, something more efficient will eventually be available but while still retaining the classic fantasy flair.
Every housing building has its own bathroom, and fortunately plumbing and running water has been restored for all basic bathroom needs, including showers. Just don't expect fancy shower stalls; bath tubs are what's available. Still there are outhouses if needed and Communal bathhouses are also a thing, and while most are situated in the Residentialsection, there are one or two scattered about that serve similar as a public restroom. Well water is also available, and it is advised against drinking form the river without purifying it.
There is some basic law enforcement and a Prison Tree located in the swamps for those who need to serve jail time.

Just be careful when cooking—wouldn't want to accidentally burn them down. As for some samples of what the treehouses can look like: 1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7. Players can be as creative as they want to be!
As for the more standard houses, they are mostly one story with a few two story buildings, but they are all small and comparable to the treehouses. All housing will have enough room for at least two people, but there are plenty of rooms for single living. Those seeking bigger homes will have to tap into their dreamotion energy reserves to renovate and expand.
What makes housing in Songerein unique is that the home will adapt to the owner. Affected by their dreamotion energy, it will function and stylize itself over time to match the owner. Some might even want to call their homes dream houses...
There are no apartment buildings, so no communal living. Everyone can just pick a place they like. Should someone ever leave (ie, drop the game), their home will be completely "swept" and reset after a few days. Should they return and no one has taken over, the home can be returned back to how it was.

A small pub restaurant called The Wild Harvest opened by Kazuma. Serves various western and eastern style earth-based street food dishes. A special menu is rotated every month.
Communal garden. Created by Sora and Tifa, it's located just outside the Residential District. This communal garden is made up of six small raised square beds made of wood that anyone in Songerein can come and plant their flowers, fruits, vegetables, and the like in it! It's built next to a small, natural pond that houses fairy frogs to keep the bugs away, as well as a small school of singing fish that like to sing tunes for the plants to help them thrive. If someone utilizes Dreamotion energy on the plants, who knows what kinds of mixed up vegetables might come out of it!? A tomatocucumber? A strawraspberry? A delilily? Plant something and find out.
An in-ground communal firepit. There stands a wooden 'shed' protecting a stack of firewood, which gets replenished on occasion, that is right next to a large in-ground fire pit lined with stones just outside of the residential district in an easily spottable clearing. Very accessible and open for anyone to just to start a fire; either to just gather around for warmth or cook something over. Great for outdoor gatherings where you want to have a fire going.
A few Spicy Noodles and Garnish Noodles can be actively seen when in use, should someone use the fire to cook and have a few drinks by. Atmosphere of the area almost always seems welcoming and comforting.
A greenhouse behind Yujin Mikotoba’s actual house to keep some of those special anti-noctaere flowers in. He's been keeping a close eye on their growth and examining their properties.
Flower Dog Tree. Maintained by Eustace, there is a small, hollowed tree trunk that is housing a family of Flower dogs. The dogs roam freely throughout the area and are quite friendly. More information can be found here.
A corgi playground built by Nier (younger).
A spiral well found under crumbling bricks at the edge of the Residential District. Seemingly built into a natural formation with a strange set of ritual-like carvings in the floor at the base, it acts as a conduit for magic, making it a prime location for dreamwalking and dreamotion practice. As a result, creatures such as lightning-charged snakes and siren anglerfish have made their home in the rougher caverns and underground lakes connected there, balancing the reward with risk. Perhaps its tunnels even lead into the crystal caverns, among other things... just don't be too surprised if you find a skeleton or two down there.
Owl Sanctuary. Eustace and Kisara created a little "owl sanctuary" for a family of flower blossom owls last month that had a nest in one of the trees in the Residential area. They cleared out a small area to allow a staging area to leave out food as well as some of the flower bushes that were already there so that the owls do not have to venture far to feed. A sign is there to let anyone know that there is a nesting flower blossom owl family, and one of the Eustace's flower pups will always hang around to make sure they are well protected.
School Room. Mei is in the process of getting a school set up! So far a room in the library has been offered, and other characters have offered their talents for teachers. Mammon has also gathered desks to supply the room.
A small vineyard near Barok’s home, which was temporarily an ice fortress due to Bleeding Heart influence. It got better.
Madrigal Blooms is a flower shop located at the Residential District at the ground floor of Isabela Madrigal’s tree house. This place usually sells flowers and potted plants grown seasonally, herbs, spices, floral and non floral arrangements, interesting rare plant life, and gardening tools. The look of the shop leans towards rustic industrial with a mix of steel, wood, exposed brick, and greenery. There is also an area where plants can be dried and a backyard garden where Isabela grows most of the plants. There is also a capybara mascot who usually hangs out at the outdoor display who may or may not eat the flowers.
Ralsei has opened up a clothes shop at the bottom floor of his home! He takes requests, and doesn't... actually remember to charge money very often.

The dream board will also be located here. Anyone can put up a job, but some will "magically" appear as well.

Rose Garden. A large garden made of white and red roses has bloomed overnight in one of the parks in the Central Plaza. Just walking through this garden will make anyone feel more amiable and "loving" towards everything and everyone around them, and their petals can be used for a variety of romantic scents and…other uses.
Bark 'N Play Dog Park. A fenced in dog park built by Eustace with plenty of amenities such as a self watering and treat station, picnic tables, plenty of shade, and toys and obstacles to keep any pup happy and occupied. Even comes with a sprinkler and hose for those hot summer days.
Reverein Communal Clinic. A clinic originally set up by Jude Mathis and Yujin Mikostoba that's now officially open to the public. It's at the north of town plaza between the residential and market district, close to the riverside. The second floor will be dedicated to research into plants and development of medicine in relation to it. Will probably start providing first aid kits good to travel with down the road, other additions may come depending on IC developments.
The Lady of Bliss. It's a bakery and bistro ran by Madhuri with a shifting menu every month to cover as many worlds' cuisines as possible, all while imparting feel-good dreamotion into the ingredients. Come to the Lady for a pick-me-up after a bad dream or a rough date!
Creamistry: Ice Cream & Soda Shop. Located in the Plaza is a brand new shop operated by Senku Ishigami and Gen Asagiri. It specializes in handcrafted ice cream and soda, in a wide variety of experimental flavours to be changed monthly. No exchange required! Come taste what these two have in store, opening September 2023.

Docks and piers can be found along the river, and there are gondolas tied at various points along the river and can be used to traverse through the river. However they should not be taken beyond the town limits. Stronger boats will handle the stronger currents outside of town.
Ye Olde Fishing Spot. Name pending. Fish thrive within the river and can be fished anywhere, but there is one spot by the southern docks that boasts the best yield of a variety of fish. The lake has larger fish, and the north side of the river will have tougher breeds.
Grand Theatre House. Set right on the riverfront, it boasts a magnificent stage with a large audience hall and premier seating. No plays are scheduled yet, but those working on it hope to use dreamotion to create extravagant special effects and amplify sound and music for each performance.
Phantom's Music Studio. An unnamed music studio on Theater Row that doubles as a music school for anyone wishing to learn an instrument or how to sing. After Phantom took over as the manager, the NPCs have started to refer to it as 'Phantom's Music Studio'. The building is staffed by some speaking animals who are able to play instruments with their paws and tails. There is no learning fee, they only ask that you attend lessons on time and remember to spread the joy of music to others with what you have learned. It also offers basic healing dreamotion magic lessons hosted most Saturday afternoons. More info here!
Songerein Wikki Archives. The Songerein Wikki Archives, located near the river on the way to the Tree of Stories. This serves as a place of nonfiction and factual information on Songerein, where people can submit their own articles and also browse/borrow articles already submitted. The small stone building has large windows and skylights, fitted with bookshelves and furnished with tables and other comfy chairs where people can read, write, and study all they like. Trahearne has recruited some native Tyrian NPCs to run the place while he's not around.
Hot & Heavy. A waterside forge that doubles as Leo Valdez's home. The main level boasts the forge and workshop itself, including a waterwheel, where all sorts of weapons, armor, and you name it can be built. Currently is open for commissions. Above the workshop is a small loft that is used as a personal living space.

There are several businesses running throughout the Markets and recent events has provided a seasonal themed street called Holiday Haven. One can now find at least one or two different basic stories, such as grocers, boutiques, tailors, smithies, restaurants and cafes, hairdressers, butchers, etc. Other established services such as construction are also now available.
Witch's Brew. An apothecary called "Witch's Brew" and is staffed by a mix of fae and townspeople to create special herbal remedies and potions that will cure most minor ailments, hexes, and curses. They will endeavor to create medicines for more severe problems and potentially help create a proper full blown clinic. Located in Holiday Haven.
Holiday Stores. Along Holiday Haven are various holiday themed stores that sell seasonal themed items all year long, with some more bustling during their appropriate holiday. There's a special candy, Soul Candy, which appeared in the Cirque du Soulei. Eating it will change the individual to their dreamwalking form and they can have a "ghostly" experience for up to ten minutes. Mostly for pranks and fun, just be careful not to fly away! Better to have someone to help tether to just in case. A few more stores have also opened including Halloween themed cafes and restaurants.
The Cabaret Rêves Célestes. NPC run by Estelle from Overwatch. It brings a little more music and entertainment to the place. A nice cabaret, a special little piece of Paris, to enjoy a drink and a little food and just enjoy the music in the air. Estelle herself is also a peek at a machine that not only thinks for herself, but dreams; an Omnic that dreams of doing something she enjoys for a much wider audience. Characters can even perform here themselves at night, work in the kitchen, or bus tables. Serve drinks at a bar, too. Cute date spot? Cute date spot.
Hat Maker. NPC run; from American McGee's Alice. An enthusiastic man that comes off larger than life when it comes to the pursuits of good tea, proper hat wear in normal and odd design, and innovation. An inventor whose creations are steampunk in nature, and whimsical and a little on the horrifying side in appearance. Striving to push society forwards in some way, and make life a little easier here and there. He also enjoys hauling people in for tea and has a lot of oddities and chemicals around the shop for both creations of various machines and hats. A very eccentric individual who will pull in people randomly for tea and will bodily throw people out of his shop if they cause a ruckus.
Madame Blackbird. NPC run. From Identity V. Base off Lady Nightingale, she runs an odd boutique mainly selling clothing, furniture, and music boxes. She seems to have an interest in telling stories with her costumes, considering she sometimes sells themed sets. Perhaps she may even have an outfit that seems to have been tailored to you... Or a warped reflection of your desires, if you look at it that way. She can also transform.
Moonglow Fantasies. NPC run. From Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it is a luxury goods store specializing in jewelry, cosmetics, and cosmetology. It is run by two surprisingly tall and impressively muscular women, Azasha and Makkara. Makkara is a skilled jewelry and precious metal craftswoman who loves to give beauty advice or makeovers, while Azasha crafts cosmetics, runs the storefront, and chats up customers.
Farmer's Market. Where most of the merchant stalls for general groceries can be bought. All fresh and while there are some staple sellers, some fae from the Wildlands only come in every once in a while.
Butcher's Block. Where many butchers gather to sell fresh meat. Other butchers and sellers can be found around the Markets and elsewhere.
- Mutton Sellers. NPC run. From Tales of Xillia. There are some mutton loving butchers who will be selling mutton with great gusto (MUTTON FRESH MUTTON).
At Day's End. A joint venture between Diluc Ragnvindr and Barok van Zieks, At Day's End is a bar and winery located in the heart of the market district. Small but not crowded, the owners encourage a relaxed atmosphere welcoming to both connoisseurs and workers seeking a refreshing drink. Serves a small variety of high-quality wines, ciders and nonalcoholic juices, with more to come. Full bottles are also available for trade, and many of the vintages available have dramatic names such as Midnight Harvest and Darkened Sea. Though there are no food offerings, patrons are welcome to bring their own snacks and meals—just clean up after yourselves. Or else.
Smithy Ally. Where many seasoned smithies have set up shop. They range from melee to magic, offensive and defensive. Most will charge the necessary materials and additional "fetch" jobs for their services. Surrounding stories will also sell goods and accessories suitable for weapons.
The Smithy! Initially opened by Somnus and Alphen last year, this building can be found within the town, and it is nearly always open (thanks to, of course, its owner not needing sleep). It is divided into two parts: the shop in the front, and the workshop in the back.
Armor and weapons of almost any sort are on display, probably indicative of the elective expertise of weapons by the owner. Some fine metal and glass works, as well as accessories and jewelry, are also on display in this shoppe. Some might even be enchanted with healing properties (in the near future)!
Additionally, the smithy contains all anyone needs to craft, refine, or repair their blades and armor, as well as rare gems and precious metals that might give their project a finishing touch! The anvils are open to anyone to use, so long as they're put back neatly. Characters can bring in their own material or purchase/trade for what is available in the store.
Any minor purchases/interactions can be handwaved, but for bigger/more elaborate commissions, please send a PM! Characters are also free to use the forge as needed.
Flip Factory. An indoor skate park, opened by Beat, is located on the north fringes of the Markets. It is found within a refurbished warehouse and can be easily spotted by the myriad of paintings on its exterior, known as the Commemoration Wall to many. The wall mostly depicts the residents of Reverein banding together to bring about the fall of the Story Eater on May 2023.
Painted with similar graffiti art on the inside, the skate park contains a number of half and quarter pipes, ramps, handrails, and stair sets for both beginners and experts alike. Though said to be a free-for-all, Beat offers lessons to anyone interested in skateboarding as well as deck detailing at the park.
Dogsledding Outpost. A dog sledding outpost has appeared on the southern side of town, fully furnished with several sleds and dogs. Manning it is a grizzled looking man, but he's friendly and will assist anyone who wants to use the sleds. They can still operate even when it's not snowing, and the dog sleds will leave a trail of snow in their wake when running across the ground.
Porcelain Town. The name is a bit of a misnomer as it's really just a store in the southern Markets. Made completely out of porcelain and run by individuals also made of porcelain, their main product is—radishes. No, it's porcelain. From fine dinner plates to vases to figurines to other decorative items. And eventually they wish to be able to install porcelain sinks and other fixtures. They also have lunchpail trees growing just behind the store that those needing a quick snack are free to take. Just be careful around the store—things are very fragile. Fortunately if any of the porcelain residents break, they can be repaired with dreamotion.
Sweetsville. The buildings are made of gingerbread and parts of the streets and furnishings into candy. These are fortunately reinforced so they won't break easily, but critters and bugs may still try to take a bite. And, fortunately, no one turns into gingerbread when in this section. This area is and will be primarily filled with bakeries, patisseries, confectioneries, and other businesses that just want to have that sweet, dessert theme to their goods. The fashion boutiques here will be…interesting.
All You Can Sweets. What will soon become known as the premiere one stop shop for all baked goods, pastries, and candies. It's a large, three story building with each floor focused on each type of dessert. They offer free samples and will trade their products either with service at the store, supply certain types of dreamotion, or bringing in ingredients from the Candy Forest. They will also take any special orders as long as ingredients are provided.

However, those closer to the outskirts will also need to pay close attention to the wild animals and fae that may dart in to steal goods or kill livestock.

Hot Air Balloons. Five (5) hot air balloons from Oz stick around to be used both for entertainment and limited mode of transportation. The balloons can go high enough to reach Dragefjell (Dragon Island) but can only go as far as the Old Cliffs before they need to turn back around or risk losing fuel and being stranded. Some flying monkeys will be the pilots, but it's possible for someone to learn how to fly on their own.

Along with forests, there are swamps that are primarily on the southwest side of the ring. They are dark, murky, often foggy, and filled with the more dangerous types of creatures ready to pull unwary travelers in.

Floating high above are mountains. Although they move a little, they're mostly stationary. Occasionally on might see some gryphons, wyverns, pegasus, and other flight based creatures descend, but they mostly keep to themselves up above. No dragons...yet, but who knows what kind of treasures could be found in those mystical mountain caves.
Once a barrier between the Wildlands and the Wastelands is a ring of cliffs called the Cliffside, or "Cliffs" for short. No longer fully rocky and barren, they have taken on a more grayish color and more foliage and trees can be found growing around it. The kirin oases still exist and there are other hostile creatures, but most have moved to the new ring, the Outer Range. Beyond the Cliffs is a stretch of fields, meadows, and plains.
At the northern most point of the Wildlands will have part of an ocean that appeared in July, 2022. A large portion is within the Wildlands and is thus relatively safe, however it does open out beyond the Outer Range into the Wastelands, so care must be taken when venturing further. More details on what can found in the area can be read in the designated section.

Corgi treehouse. Inside a large, mysterious tree are corgis! Taken care of by Eustace, there are a total of seven corgis who inhabit it. Detailed information regarding the treehouse and the dogs who inhabit can be found here. It is located within the forests north of Reverein and a trail is currently being cleared for easier travel.
Special flowers found by 76 and Kazuma. Inside a cave at the foot of the mountain behind a waterfall. They have anti-noctaere properties and are guarded/cared for (?) by giant ent-like creatures. Some of the wildlife in the area have gained special properties from consuming the flower. Currently the flowers do not show it can fully prevent Noctaere changes already occurring, but do help calm the Noctaere side of the mind. It has some preventive properties against Noctaere influence as well, when around them or consumed. So far only tested as a form of crude tea and need further research and refining. Noctaere-like creatures find them repulsive, especially in large batches. It's why there are hardly nightmarish creatures in the deep forest and mountains near the area with the flowers. They're somewhat delicate plants, preferring cooler humid climates and grow in shade. Currently difficult to cultivate them at this time.
Paopu Fruit Tree. A paopu fruit tree. A very large overhanging fruit free that grows along the edge of the beach. The branches hang over the ocean water and the trunk is thick enough to hold the weight of two or three people. Every warm month it seems to bear bright yellow star-shaped fruit that sparkle and glow twice a day- in the early mornings and during sunset.
According to legend, "If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each other's lives no matter what." This gives the fruit great symbolic meaning. It's unclear if the fruit actually ties two people together but it's often seen as having the magic to bind two souls.
Comet Tree. Discovered by van Zieks and Sanji deep in the wildlands, a large tree sits shaded below an even taller canopy, the vines hanging from its branches carrying a fruit that shines with an icy blue light. The striking visual leads the former man to think of it as a comet tree, and the two found that the fruits are edible. When eaten, one may confer a mild, temporary effect related to comets, shooting stars and the myths related to them, with the effects stronger if the fruit is used to make foods and drinks by someone dedicated to their craft. E.g.: luck buffs and debuffs, greater resistance to temperatures, a divine aura, better accuracy (as comets have been seen as arrows of the gods), and so forth. It's possible that the seeds might be able to grow closer to the town so the fruits can be made more available, given the right conditions.
The Elecrystal Cave, found in the Outer Wilds during the excursion that Futaba put together. The crystals there will break off in same-sized chunks. The smaller (or bigger) the vein, the smaller (or bigger) the chunks will break. The cave seems to go on for a long while, so who knows what else may be down there. No creatures were seen inside, but if they only scratched the surface, again, who knows what's down in the depths. Don't wake up a Balrog!
The Dreamotion Plant now powers Reverein. Located out in the outer wilds! It's still pretty ruinous, but there's various machinery that's being spruced up by the dreammets, the caretakers of all things power-related. What needs to be working is working, and what isn't working, well... it can be cleaned up and made to be working, probably. Over time, more will probably be added to it, and it can likely do more, if more things are found there.
A desert oasis— or rather, a nice big pond of crystalline water that disperses dream mirages for a while, and tastes good to boot. If any would-be adventurers are out in the more desert-y outer wilds, this may be a good side-trip to make sure they don't end up wandering around the desert!
The Ever-Blossoming Grove is a very small area within the woods of the Wildlands that seems to be deeply imbued with arcane energy. No matter the season, the cozy little clearing seems to be stilled in an eternal springtime. Within it and within it only, water always runs and remains clear and refreshing, reflecting a perfect mirror of the tree canopy and skies above, and flowers bloom vividly in warmth all year around... In classical RPG terms, the Grove is essentially a save point within the Wildlands; those who walk into this area will find any injuries and ailments to slowly begin to heal and their body feeling rested, although the potent dreamotion of the clearing may result in some bittersweet emotions bubbling up. Be careful not to bring harm onto the place!
Red Poppy Field. Somewhere out in the fields between the Old Cliffs and the Outer Range is a small field of red poppies. They have similar effects to the one found in Oz, which is if anyone goes into it, they will be susceptible to the sleep pollen. Fortunately, it can be countered via external resources to keep oneself awake; dreamotion will also be effective. Should someone happen to fall asleep, better get to dreamwalking and get help. Right now the poppy field is otherwise harmless so there's no need to destroy it. In fact those flowers could be useful… Or become a threat later who knows.
Candy Forest. A portion of the Wildlands forest has turned into candy, and yes—the new "plants" and "animals" that now inhabit it are edible to some degree. However, they would serve better as ingredients than eaten as is. To go with the new section of the forest, an assortment of new candy themed creatures will appear. The monsters featured in the event may also make an appearance if enough negative or nightmare dreamotion is around.
Purple leaved trees. Located mostly around the wild, but maybe in some residential areas, there might be an intriguing type of tree showing up with purple foliage.

The noctaere are the biggest threat. Creatures made from nightmare energy, they are vicious and will attack with no mercy, and the ones that come from the Wastelands are even more potent as they can alternate between dreams and attacking physically. They come in varying forms and can shapeshift to whatever suits their needs.
Other creatures that inhabit the wastelands are pretty much every wicked and malignant creature, monster, and demon possible. Sandwurms and sand sharks in particular are dangerous as they could breach and appear without any notice, not even a telltale rumble. Hydras are also commonly seen lurking close to the Wildlands cliffs.
High up in the night sky, two spheres can be seen right next to each other. How this is realistically possible, don't ask, it's a dream world. However, there is something very unique about these moons and the researchers are quick to reveal their qualities:
- Original Moon. Recreated by the moon fragment, Songerein's original moon returns in all its glory. At first glance it looks as if it's a normal moon, but there are times, especially when it's full, that it seems to reflect vague shadows on its surface, like a face or a rabbit.
- Crystal Moon. The most striking of the two, this moon is entirely new and is theorized to have been created due to the stories used to help aid in returning the moon. It is multi-colored with a subtly visible black core, representing one of the black scales Madhuri used in her attempt to replace the missing moon. Although researchers are not sure, the crystal nature is due to all the various stories, myths, and even songs shared in building it, and whenever one looks at it through the telescope they may see some of those things reflect off its surface like a movie film. The fact there are also a few accounts depicting two moons, which may be another reason why there are two now. Further study has also revealed odd shapes that almost look like strange ruins, but that's just probably a trick of the light. Definitely no way anything is living up there. Right? Was that a face that's creepier than the ones seen from the other moon?
The moons have their own separate orbit and move in opposite directions. Sometimes, they eclipse each other in such a way to form a heart shape. Perhaps because of the increased light thanks to the moonlight, throughout the month there will be reports of better hunting. There will also be reports of alcohol tasting a lot better when drinking under direct moonlight.
Who knows what else will be discovered in the future… And for those wondering if we're hinting anything, let's just say all options are on the table

The dragons themselves are shapeshifters, capable of taking a humanesque form. Some dragons have taken on non-dragon spouses, particularly from the other fae. Some go full human appearance while others do a mix, such as keeping their tails, wings, and horns, or take on a more reptilian look. Some maintain an average human height, some smaller, some larger. There are even dragon races that only maintain this form and cannot turn into true dragons. Those who have seen the small rooms in the castles can now understand why. Thus the population of the floating island will have a diverse population.

- Outside there are several steaming pools of hot water that can be accessed, and there are buildings for both public and private lodgings and baths. It's great for those who want a scenic view, especially if one dares to go out near the edge of the pool to look over the ridge. Things are a lot more open here, so while there are natural walls and barriers, there's still less privacy compared to the indoor amenities. The dragons have installed special magic that should anyone accidentally fall, they will float back up to where they were. With winter coming and arriving sooner, there is already snow so it will be colder outside. It will look lovely, though! Have some pics: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
- Inside the mountain is where most of the lodging is installed, using the natural cavern rock and thermal heat to provide extra warmth. There are also indoor pools that can be used for both public and private use. Although they might not have a great view, they do offer privacy and the dragons have used magic and natural bioluminescent flora and moss to make the walls appear like the night sky or some other mystical feeling atmosphere. Have some pics: 1, 2
Guests can go into the water either in bathing suits or nude, and there are both designated separate and mixed gender pools.
The resort has its own restaurant that has mixed indoor and outdoor seating and also offers complimentary laundry services. They do provide all the robes and necessities for anyone to enjoy their stay at the hot springs as well. Whatever common service or resource found in hot springs establishments can be expected there. All in all, it's ultimately a place for everyone to relax, especially as the waters are rumored to have healing properties.
As for payment, they will accept all forms of gems, gold, and other precious goods. The more given, the better the service. Alternatively, helping out at the resort or the other dragon villages will also curry favor and could serve as payment or reward to stay at the resort.
That should be a good basic overview of what can be expected. We'll continue to flesh out as time goes on, and like with everything else in the game, players are welcome to come with anything that could fit the setting. Feel free to ask us for any other details you might like to know!

The ocean water will flow out and expand further into the Wasteland for an unknowable distance. All creatures that used to live out in that area of the Wasteland have now changed to live in the water. Sand sharks are now massive megalodons and the desert wurms have turned into massive eels. It's still not safe to venture out there, but the Wasteland creatures do not venture too close to the cliffs, in large part due to some defensive mechanisms set in place underwater. Namely, giant explosive spiked urchins that float in the water that burst in pure dream energy and incinerate anything that touches it. Don't mess with them, they can harm normal people and animals, too.
Developments are currently underway in this area. Expect some kind of resort and other underwater discoveries in Summer 2023.
These NPCs CANNOT be used by players, they are relegated to mod use only.

Santa. St. Nick, aka Santa Claus will make a few appearances to update everyone about the Story Eater's movements and explain a few things. A powerful ally, he plans to amass a strong army to help deal with the Story Eater.

Cupid. Cupid was featured in the Lindwormeo and Juliet event as a corrupted noctaere who targeted those within the dreamscape, his arrows capable of turning those hit into noctaere. It is unclear what has happened to them since.
« February 2022 »
Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga is a dear friend of Santa's and was the one trying to help everyone back during the Halloween dreamscape. The Story Eater was trying to frame her for the chaos. She is also the one who created the potion that can damage the Erasers.

Perlios and Elimei. A pair of twin winged kirins that first appeared as eggs in the Tree of Stories after the Flower Festival event. Elimei had recurring nightmares that served as a premonition to the moon, and was later kidnapped to a distant moonscape. She was saved and was able to give enough power to help bring the moon back. The two currently reside in the tree, but are not often seen. Sometimes they seem to disappear without a trace for weeks on end, only to return to play around before disappearing again. Where could they be going?

Sandman. He decided to pass through Songerein and reward everyone for a job well done after rescuing Elimei and recovering the moon. With his magic, he expanded the Wildlands almost twice its size and created an ocean that extended into the Wastelands for everyone to enjoy.

William Shakespeare. The playwright first appeared during the Lindwormeo and Juliet event as it was actually his dreamscape they were entering. He watched everyone through the moon and took notes. He then appeared again with Edgar Allen Poe to stay in the Tree of Stories to help create a book that would seal the Story Eater for good.

The Master. The leader of the Nightmare Troupe that ran the Haunted Carnival that appeared in October 2022. He wields a large scythe and is a mysterious fellow of unknown origins, only saying enough to help but not much more. He does posit the notion that nightmare energy doesn't have to be negative and can be used positively, such as with the carnival. For now he seems like an ally.
« October 2022, November 2022 »
Edgar Allen Poe. The one who created the clues and items in the Haunted Carnival, he is now working (begrudgingly) with William Shakespeare to create a book that will seal the Story Eater.
« November 2022, January 2023 »
Candysmith from Onmyoji. A mysterious middle-aged man who wanders and sells enchanted sugar sculptures with a life of their own. An explanation for some of those living candy creatures roaming around. The taste of his candies is dependent upon his mood, and they tend to be bittersweet if he's feeling down. Loves kids and will give them free treats.
Wonder Chef from the Tales of (series). Because he's the Mysterious Gourmet, the Wonder Chef! He can hide in various places with all sorts of wacky disguises and if someone happens across him he'll give them a recipe and ingredients. He's had a variety of appearances in the various games so there could even be a clan of wonder chefs that appear throughout town. The sky's the limit with him.
There is a large cactus in the middle of town, even though it's snowing and winter-time. Also the cactus has a chef's hat. What do you do?
The Wizard, a nature-attuned magical hermit. When not in his tower, he spends most of his time with the mystical side of things, communicating with forest spirits and mermaids, breaking up conflicts between the hidden nonhuman residents of the town, and so forth; highly interested in studying dreamscapes and dream energy.
He can brew potions that help connect and communicate with nature and its residents, make and break seals over dangerous locations, and conjure up magic-infused structures with the right resources, such as ones that allow the user to change their appearance—but only for those he deems worthwhile. That said, he's not a total misanthrope; he considers it his responsibility to address magical dangers to mundane people, and may not be opposed to setting up the occasional holiday maze if it pleases the fae... maybe he'll even start looking for an apprentice to pass down his skills?
Debbie-May, Debbie-Lou, and Debbie-Lee. From 101 Dalmation Street, these three Dalmation pups will be taken by an NPC farmer but still can be found around town. Very energetic, will come running if they hear something like "dinner" or "ball" or "who wants a group hug?" Used to life in late 2010's suburbs and may visit the markets every so often... And since they are also used to living in a big household they aren't seen apart from each other too often.
With them comes a phenomenon called the "World Wide Woof." It's a way to relay information for dogs in their world through coordinated barking and howling. Though the "signal" is capable of being intercepted when the message is first sent out, it makes for a great distress signal.
Ivan the Bat. Ivan the Bat is the new town gossip, spilling beans on the town going-ons and any rumors that might be flying around. In addition, he is a skilled magician who can do any parlor trick you can imagine. There is a good chance that he might put up magic shows every weekend and on town festivals whenever he is not busy bringing in fresh town gossip.
Katheryne from Genshin Impact. Katheryne is the receptionist at the central hub who provides guidance and information for the town's quest board. Any quests you'd like to put up, as well as any further details about the quests and rewards that come from it are all handled by her.

During the Flower Festival, there was a special attraction where characters could enter books and create their own adventure story. Upon completion, those books were published and stuck on the tree, but after the dreamshift ended, those books were published to be shared all over town. Although the characters are not directly stated to be involved in the story, some character names might look a little familiar... Here are a few.
Beashrek. Princess Eustona is faced with a horrible fate to be locked up in an imposing tower guarded by a fearsome dragon, until he's rescued by the unorthodox Beashrek, a rough-around-the-edges knight who seems to have little care or interest in niceties. Will Princess Eustona be able to melt the ice encasing Beashrek's heart before he's returned to his rightful throne, or will Beashrek's ineptitude for amicability leave the fair princess to ditching her along the way? (Cast: Beatrix as Beashrek and Eustace as Princess Eustona)
The Wizard and The Noblewoman. It's the story of a spoiled noblewoman who is always untruthful and a powerful sorcerer who threatens the kingdom (supposedly). She is captured by said wizard and offered freedom in return for telling the truth - a clever trick, which ultimately leads to her revealing that the true villain (gasp!) is her father who plans to take over the kingdom. Can the kingdom be saved? Will romance blossom between the two leads? And what of the magical crystal she keeps in her pocket which has the ability to exponentially enhance one's magickal power? (Cast: Hythlodaeus as Evil Wizard, Emet-Selch as Noblewoman)
Written in the Stars. During a ball held to broker peace between warring kingdoms, Prince Tifan and Princess Dohalia find themselves with only one another to rely on when the prince is falsely accused of trying to kill Dohalia's mother. Together, they must escape and find out who has framed Prince Tifan if they are ever to achieve peace between their two lands— and perhaps learn something more about themselves along the way. (Cast: Dohalim il Qaras as the Princess and Tifa Lockhart as the Prince)
An Enemy's Seductive Touch. Prince Victor and Princess Amelia from opposing kingdoms must set aside their hostile differences and work together to destroy an ancient dragon that has appeared in their homelands. However, as they journey to find a way to defeat the beast, they learn more about each other... And their bodies. Comes with an "R19 Erotica" warning. (Cast: Eustace as Victor and Tifa Lockhart as Amelia)
PLAZA
Dreambucks. A totally and original unique cafe that serves tea and other tasty treats, but it's magical tea that can't be found anywhere else. Run by special tea fairies, the teas are themed after weathers and seasons and will influence the drinker's emotions and dreams to a minor degree. The menus change out every month. (samples of general style and aesthetic of the teas and potential other goods: cafe; 1; 2; 3; 4; 5)
MARKETS
RESIDENTIAL
The Wild Harvest. A small pub opened by Kazuma Asogi. Serves various western and eastern style earth-based street food dishes. A special menu is rotated every month.
School Room. Mei is in the process of getting a school set up! So far a room in the library has been offered, and other characters have offered their talents for teachers. Mammon has also gathered desks to supply the room.
Madrigal Blooms. A flower shop located at the Residential District at the ground floor of Isabela Madrigal’s tree house.
Ralsei's clothes shop. Ralsei has opened up a clothes shop at the bottom floor of his home! He takes requests, and doesn't... actually remember to charge money very often.
PLAZA
The Lady of Bliss. It's a bakery and bistro ran by Madhuri with a shifting menu every month to cover as many worlds' cuisines as possible, all while imparting feel-good dreamotion into the ingredients. Come to the Lady for a pick-me-up after a bad dream or a rough date!
RIVERSIDE
Phantom's Music Studio. An unnamed music studio on Theater Row that doubles as a music school for anyone wishing to learn an instrument or how to sing. After Phantom took over as the manager, the NPCs have started to refer to it as 'Phantom's Music Studio'. The building is staffed by some speaking animals who are able to play instruments with their paws and tails. There is no learning fee, they only ask that you attend lessons on time and remember to spread the joy of music to others with what you have learned.
MARKETS
The Smithy.

Keep in mind the NPCs are just there for the backdrop, add flavor to the game, and give more of a reference for whose running businesses and such.
Player:
Canon: Canon the NPC will be pulled out of
Character: Character related to the canon
NPC Label: What kind of NPC? Example shopkeeper, thug, bandit, some rich guy
Why should include them? Basic reason for why the NPC(s) would be a good addition for the game. Explain what they would be doing while in Songerein.
Misc/Questions: Any other notes or questions can be added here. Any notable abilities or skills the NPC(s) might have should also be noted.
Re: NPC SUBMISSION
Canon: Anastasia (1997)
Character: Bartok the Bat (NPC Name can be changed to Ivan the Bat)
NPC Label: Gossiper/Magician
Why should include them? He is going to be the bat version of gossip magazines: spilling beans on the town going ons and any rumors that might be flying around. In addition he is a skilled magician who can do any parlor trick you can imagine.
Misc/Questions: There is a good chance that he might put up magic shows every weekend and on town festivals whenever he is not busy bringing in fresh town gossip.
Re: NPC SUBMISSION
Canon: Genshin Impact
Character: Katheryne
NPC Label: Receptionist
Why should include them? Katheryne is the famous receptionist that stands behind the desk of every Adventurer's Guild branch in Teyvat--and I do mean every, as she's encountered in every region the player travels to, performing her same duty. Her primary role is to serve as the hub for all commissions and quests in the game, providing guidance and information, as well as rewards upon successful completion of said commissions, while her secondary task is to provide all secretarial work regarding the Adventurer's Guild and its roster of adventurers. In that regard, she can provide some central organization to the quest board, providing a convenient means for everything relating to rewards and details to come from.
Misc/Questions: even though Katheryne is a named character, she's essentially the Nurse Joy or Officer Jenny of Genshin Impact, possessing very little character or personality of her own, and existing wherever she is needed to perform her duty. Furthermore, all the Katherynes that exist in the different countries of Genshin Impact's world are actually bionic puppets connected to a central hivemind that allows them to perform their global duty for the guild, and so in the dream world would be disconnected from that and just serve at the receptionist of Reverein's Adventurer's Guild.
But we could always just rename her if that's too much.
