{ hiatus & drop }

HIATUSNeed to take a break? No problem. Here are just a few things to keep in mind:

  • Hiatuses should only last up to a month max, but we can extend if necessary.

  • You are exempt from any checks for hiatuses that last for over 21 days. Anything less and you'll still need to link in your stuff unless there are other circumstances. In that case, we might consider allowing whatever you have or even half AC, but you must talk to us first.

  • You are not prohibited from tagging in the game if on hiatus! In fact, if you manage to make AC and post your proofs, it will clear out your current hiatus and you'll be free to use it for the next month. This could be beneficial for those who are uncertain about an extended timeframe and want to put a "preemptive" hiatus but find they are able to tag out regardless and make AC. That said, don't claim a hiatus multiple times in a row even if you do pass AC.

Finally, don't forget the different states your character can be in while on hiatus.

  1. Autopilot. The usual "my character is doing something offscreen" option.
  2. Sleep coma. A kind of hibernation state, the character is just asleep with nothing able to wake them. However, this means they are vulnerable so friends and family may want to be sure they are kept safe or they may wake up with injuries or worse—dead.
  3. Returning home. This can be done involuntarily (ie, no warning) or voluntarily through the use of the 3 regain baubles, and the return is temporary. The character will remained tethered to Songerein. If this is voluntary, the character (and others) will know they will be back. This route could double as a canon update, but if not you can take advantage of the "time is weird" and just say they were in their world for a couple of days even though weeks or a month may have passed in Songerein.
